Puerto Montt
Capital of the X region, with a population of 100.000 inhabitants.

The development of this city at the end of the 19th century started with the
tremendous German Immigration, which influence is shown clearly in the architecture and gastronomy of the area mainly in Puerto Varas and Frutillar.

Puerto Montt  Is the capital of the Lake district, located about 1000 km  south from Santiago, on the Reloncaví  Inlet. Puerto Montt is facing Chiloe Island, with a spectacular view of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes.

Angelmó

The colorful fishing village of Angelmo with the famous market offering a great variety of exquisite sea products is one of the most typical places of Montt Port.  
The Lake district has a mild rainy maritime climate, with more intense precipitations in winter, and its geography is characterized by smooth slopes and a great number of rivers and volcanoes. Visitors from all over the world come to this region every year being the busiest tourist season spring and summer (from November till March).

        
Llanquihue

Llanquihue Lake or Todos Los Santos Lake, Volcanoes as Calbuco and Osorno are places you can not leave behind.
 

Cruce de Lagos


Large part of this area is protected, National Parks Vicente Perez Rosales with its marvelous Lake Crossing and the Alerce Andino Park with its millenarian trees are two places you can´t miss.


 
Laguna San Rafel
From this point we have several Cruise Ships departuring to Lake San Rafael navigating through the fiords into the Glacier zone or Patagonia.

Chiloe Island.


Chiloé

One of main tourist attractions is the Lake Crossing, a spectacular trip from Puerto Varas to the Argentinean city of Bariloche, going through different lakes across the Andes mountain range.

For those interested in history and culture, the island of Chiloe has numerous wooden churches constructed between the XVII and XVIII centuries, which have been declared a world Heritage by the Unesco.

From Puerto Montt many cruises sail along fiords and channels, to reach the famous San Rafael Lake. This trip is maybe one of the most spectacular for the visitor because of the incredible geography of the extreme South of Chile :millenarian forests, cascades, flora and fauna, glaciers such as the  Pío XI ,  the largest glacier in  South America.
